Beschreibung
"The interactive installation “die tönen” (“they sound”) features improvised music as an animate organism. The audience faces an acoustic organism ducked into bushes, into wall cracks, dark corners or other unimposing places. Although dwelling in the background, it is an attentive and empathic fellow. Using a vocabulary of vocal gestures and various wind and string instruments derived from recordings by fine musicians, it comments on its sonic environment and expresses its spirited feelings about its fellow beings and their sonic utterances – consent, disgust, boredom, anger, joy, etc., apart from its predilection for taking them by surprise. Using state-of-the-art technological tools, musical expression is metamorphosed into a novel language seeking for direct communication. Visitors are invited for a confrontation: with an initially mysterious, but also multifaceted language made of experimental music.
The first variation of die tönen was realized for the Konfrontationen 2014 sound art exhibition, with Agnes Hvizdalek borrowing her voice."
